Affidavit of Support

Family-based immigrants  immigrants need to show that they have adequate means of financial support and are not likely to rely on the U.S. government for financial support. The petitioner needs to file a document called the Affidavit of Support.  There are a few variations of the Affidavit of support, but the one most often used is the I-864, Affidavit of Support Under Section 213A of the INA.

 You can obtain the form I-864, Affidavit of Support, by visiting the USCIS website, the form is free.

In addition to filing out the form, you will need the following:

AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT for Sponsor and/or Joint Sponsor

​

  1. Proof that the sponsor is a USC or Legal Permanent Resident:

    1. Permanent Resident: Copy of Green card (front & back)

    2. USC by Birth: Birth Certificate or US Passport​

    3. Naturalized Citizen: Copy of the Naturalization certificate

  2. Proof of Income:

    1. (ALL YOUR JOBS) 6 most current check stubs  _______

    2. 3 years of most current tax returns (If applicable, include schedule B, C, D, E,F)

    3. Copy of the last 3 years W-2’s or/and 1099 forms
